Project 7/2026 – Hot. Hotter. Gulu.

Life in northern Uganda is not easy. Even by Ugandan standards, the heat can be intense. And anyone who decides to open a boxing club for children and young people in a region shaped by civil war and refugee camps clearly has a strong vision.

That is exactly what our long-time friend Kidega Kenneth, a former professional boxer, had in mind. Guided by his motto, “A true leader doesn’t create separation. A true leader brings people together,” he and his team train children and young people from disadvantaged backgrounds. Through discipline, perseverance and teamwork, they help prepare them for the challenges life may bring.

Boys and girls of all ages train at the club, many of them for several years.

We have visited the Boxing Club in Gulu several times and have seen first-hand how much positive progress has been made.
Thanks to a small financial contribution, the walls of the club have now been painted as well. In addition, exercise books were handed out to all participants during a competition organised by the boxing club.

We would like to thank everyone whose donations helped make this possible, and we send our warmest greetings from Germany to our friends Therese and Kidega.
