When Katarzyna — we call her Kate the Great — told us during our shared journey about the poor sleeping conditions she experienced as a volunteer at Sunnyside School and the affiliated social project Nest of Joy in Ddegeya, it became clear to us: this could be one of our next projects.
However, the actual need turned out to concern not only potential volunteers but also the entire teaching staff and the female students of the social project. All existing wooden beds and mattresses were in very poor condition due to insect infestation. After consulting with Head Teacher Musa and project manager Malik, we therefore decided to purchase 10 sustainable metal bunk beds and 20 mattresses.
On Thursday, 27 November 2025, Nziza and Malik delivered the beds and mattresses after a dusty and bumpy drive from Kampala.
